We’ve all experienced moments of hope in our lives. This universal sentiment resonates with us, whether it’s the hope for good weather, a successful job interview, or the well-being of our loved ones. But what if we moved beyond thinking of hope as merely a feeling? What if we elevated it to a guiding philosophy that transforms not just how we feel, but how we act?

The Hope of God’s Light

President Uchtdorf starts his talk by mentioning a painting titled “Entrance to Enlightenment” that features a room partially lit by an open door. Just like in the painting, life sometimes feels like a room filled with darkness. We all have our struggles: some of us grapple with mental health issues, some face unemployment, and some suffer from loneliness. The room may be dark, but the light at the door signifies hope. As the Biblical scripture says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).
